Morrow County Injection Wells

The total volume injected in Morrow County injection wells from 1982 to the latest data for 2020 was 15,904,554 barrels (667,991,268 gallons). This is well over a half a billion gallons of radioactive brines injected in our Columbus watershed!

An Olympic-sized swimming pool holds 660,430 gallons of water. 

Oil and gas production waste brines injected into the Columbus public drinking watershed within Morrow County equate to an amount that would fill more than 1,011 Olympic-sized swimming pools. See diagram below.

In addition to the legacy injection wells listed below, there are several permits pending for additional injection wells in the Columbus public watershed located in Morrow County. These include new conversions of producing wells to enhanced recovery wells where alot of fluid is pumped down into the hole to force oil to the surface.
